Potato Planters — Professional Machines for Farmers
Potato planters are essential machines for every farmer planning efficient and precise potato cultivation. At Motofarma you will find 1-, 2- and 4-row planters suited to both small family farms and large potato producers cultivating hundreds of hectares. Our machines ensure even seed potato placement, adjustable row spacing and precise planting depth control — all to maximise yields while minimising labour input.
Types of Potato Planters
Cup Planters
Cup planters are a classic, reliable solution trusted by farmers for many seasons. Cups mounted on a drive belt pick up individual seed potatoes from the hopper and place them in the furrow at equal intervals. This type excels with non-uniform seed potato sizes and shapes, delivering high planting precision even in difficult soil conditions. Available in 1-, 2- and 4-row versions.
Belt Planters
Belt planters offer higher work capacity and less sensitivity to seed potato damage. A perforated belt transports potatoes from the hopper to the opener gently and reliably. The ideal choice for large farms where planting speed and minimising losses are paramount. Belt planters offer smooth adjustment of row spacing and planting depth without replacing working components.
Number of Rows — Match the Machine to Your Farm
1-row planters suit small farms and fields with restricted access, requiring high manoeuvrability. They work with tractors from approx. 20–30 HP.
2-row planters are the most popular choice for medium-sized farms, balancing capacity and manoeuvrability. A 40–60 HP tractor is sufficient.
4-row planters are dedicated to large potato producers, covering several hectares per day at significantly lower unit labour costs. They require a tractor of at least 80–120 HP.
Row Spacing and Planting Depth Adjustment
Every planter in our range allows precise adjustment of key planting parameters. Row spacing is typically adjustable from 62.5 to 90 cm, and planting depth (usually 6–15 cm) is set via the opener or gauge wheels.
FAQ
What tractor power do I need for a 2-row planter?

Are the planters suitable for all potato varieties?
Yes — both cup and belt planters handle seed potatoes of various shapes and sizes (35–55 mm fraction).
